This Marsden Pounamu, also known as Flower Jade comes from the Marsden region which is just outside of Greymouth, a town on the western side of New Zealand's South Island. It is unique because of the golden coloring and patterning in the stone.

This particularly colorful piece has been carved into a Toki shape and fitted with an adjustable wax chord necklace.

Originally a practical tool employed in axes, chisels and weaponry, toki / adze developed into purely ceremonial treasures symbolizing strength and courage.
