A charming little minimalist penguin sculpture carved from a piece of Nephrite Jade.

Jade has been used as the base for carving since prehistoric times. As jade is such a hard material, it was able to be used for weapons such as knives and tools for edging, ancient examples of which have been found widespread from the Balkans, Poland, Italy and most notably China and New Zealand. Once other materials were discovered for tools, jade became used for more ornamental than utilitarian purposes.
